Tanya Chichekian est professeure au département de pédagogie de l'Université de Sherbrooke. Elle a été enseignante de mathématiques dans une école secondaire et conseillère pédagogique en sciences dans un établissement postsecondaire. Elle est titulaire  d’une maîtrise et d'un doctorat du Département de Psychopédagogie de l'Université McGill avec une spécialisation en sciences de l’apprentissage. Elle a aussi suivi une formation postdoctorale à l'Université du Québec à Montréal spécialisée dans la psychologie positive en éducation.  

Ses recherches s'appuient sur les sciences de l'apprentissage et la psychologie de l'éducation et sont financées par des subventions provenant du CRSH et du FRQSC. Ses intérêts de recherche portent sur les processus motivationnels sous-jacents qui conduisent à un fonctionnement optimal en éducation ainsi que sur le design des environnements d'apprentissage qui favorisent le transfert de connaissances dans le domaine de l'enseignement supérieur. Elle s'intéresse également au rôle de l'intelligence artificielle dans la création de conditions optimales pour l'apprentissage auprès des étudiants postsecondaires.
